Marcella Stedwin stands at a fence reflecting on the last few years of her life. Her history has been halved: life before the contract, and life after. The contract came by a most inexplicable and extraordinary chain of events. After stepping away from her previous job, she decides to throw caution to the wind and go to work for a cruise ship line. During this journey, she meets some interesting people who challenge her entire perception of reality and cause her to question what she previously took for granted. One of these new acquantainces offers Marcy an opportunity to step into a chamber that will show her the true scale of her existence. If she accepts the offer, she may engage in a top-secret project that allows her to witness things humankind has never seen before.

Cory had thought Marcy would get bored of it pretty quickly and come home, reclaiming her side of the bed with rolling eyes and oh-my-gods and you-were-rights. Well, she had indeed come home after the three months. But it wasn’t because she had outlived the cruise life. Not at all. The cruise life, she had found, had indeed suited her just fine. Micha had even felt like she could get used to it. She had not come to it as hard as Marcy had.
